How to use this directory
If you have just been scammed and need to reach your bank’s fraud team immediately:
- Find your bank above (use the search box or scroll).
- Call the fraud line number — these are 24/7 lines at every major UK bank.
- If your account is with a neo-bank (Monzo, Revolut, Starling): open the bank’s app and tap Help / Chat. Most neo-banks don’t operate phone lines; in-app chat is the only authenticated channel and is genuinely 24/7 for active fraud.
- Use the phrase: “This was an authorised push payment scam. Please log it under the PSR Mandatory Reimbursement Scheme.”
Why the number on the back of your card is still the gold standard
Every UK debit and credit card has a fraud-reporting number printed on the back. That number is the most authoritative contact channel because:
- It is physically published by the bank — no risk of impersonation.
- It connects you directly to the team that can freeze the card.
- Most banks have routed it through their fraud queue with priority handling.
This directory exists for the cases where your card is lost, stolen, or you’re on a phone that can’t scan the back — not as a replacement for it.
Generic UK fraud-reporting numbers worth saving
- 159 — the banking-industry hotline. Free from UK mobiles. Call 159 to verify any incoming bank call is genuine; lets you reach your bank’s fraud team without dialling a number from a suspicious message.
- 7726 — forward suspicious SMS messages free to any UK mobile network. Spells “SPAM” on a keypad.
- 60599 — forward HMRC-impersonation messages.
- Report Fraud — 0300 123 2040 — the UK’s national fraud reporting service (formerly Action Fraud, rebranded Dec 2025).
- Financial Ombudsman Service — 0800 023 4567 — free dispute resolution if your bank refuses a fraud claim.
Generate the formal claim letter
Once you have phoned the fraud line, the bank typically asks for a written claim. Use the PSR APP Claim Wizard to generate a personalised letter that meets the requirements of the Mandatory Reimbursement Scheme.
About this directory
Every entry has been verified against the bank’s published official source (the bank’s own website or back-of-card information) as of 12 May 2026. Banks occasionally update fraud-line numbers; if you spot an outdated entry, email corrections@signaltools.org with the bank name and the correct number. Corrections are reviewed within 48 hours.
If your bank is not listed, two routes:
- Call the number on the back of your card.
- Phone 159 — the banking-industry hotline, supported by all major UK banks and most smaller ones.
